In operation it is perfect, I can just press the remote and can see the source from desktop or laptop. It's not one of those flimsy thin remotes but has a good thickness and should last a long time.įor my set up I connected a HDMI lead from my desktop to the switch, a HDMI cable from my laptop, the HDMI output lead to my monitor, the infra red extension lead which I placed the sensor on top of the monitor via the double sided self adhesive pad and of course the micro USB power source. The remote control is also good quality with 4 rubber buttons for HDMI selector 1,2,3 and a button to just select 'next' rather than pressing the numbered buttons. On the device are 3 HDMI inputs, one HDMI output for monitor, infra red connection port and micro USB power input. The switch itself has a front silver button to select HDMI source from the 3 inputs with a blue LED indicator showing which is selected, the remote control can also be used for this function. The remote uses a button sized battery which is included and just needs the plastic tab pulling out of the side to work first time. The unit is indeed a nice compact shape and the build quality looks and feels very good. This device offers full remote, no need for power source (but recommended), compact size, plug & play and easy set up amongst other things. I needed a switch for the home office as I have a desktop and laptop which shares one monitor and it can be annoying when I need the laptop screen on the bigger monitor as I have to constantly keep pulling HDMI cables out the back of the monitor because it only has one HDMI port.
